Striped Swallow Designs Willow Raglan
Let me first say, that often times the deciding factor on a pattern for me, is, deciding will this be something I make over and over, or is it something I'd only make once or twice? With the Willow Raglan, I know it will be something I make over and over, as I've already made it twice and have a third in process! The options and details included in this pattern make for a lot of different versions to be completed! It includes Top and Dress lenghts (and I discovered through a happy accident that I can create a tunic length as well!) and it has a fun back detail that can be a simple cut out or include a tie or laces! I opted for the simple cut out on both of my versions so far, but plan to make the bow version next!
My first version had been intended to be a dress, but I accidentally cut the top length skirt piece, and attached it to a dress length bodice piece. The result: A tunic!!! Although this is technically not included in the pattern, its a simple enough modification and I actually plan to make more of these happy accident tunic length versions again! I used double brushed poly for this version to make a soft, warm shirt for my girl now that fall is descending upon us in Ohio! Both fabrics were purchased from So Sew English Fabrics.
The second version I made, (which was also intended to be a dress and correctly ended up a dress this time!) was sewn using amazing quality cotton lycra from Jumping June Textiles. I have never sewn with such high quality cotton lycra fabric before and it was a dream!! My bindings have never looked so good!
Go scoop up the pattern now while its on sale if this is something you want to add to your pattern stash! (and you do!) I know I'll be using this cute and versatile pattern ALOT for my girl! Pattern can be found here: Willow Raglan Pattern.
